Founded in Osaka, Japan in 1947, Sanyo produced their first air conditioning unit in 1961. Following this, Sanyo purchased Fisher Electronics and began producing air conditioning systems under the moniker of Sanyo-Fisher from 1975. In the year 2000, Sanyo consolidated all of its air conditioning businesses to form Sanyo Electric Air Conditioning Co Ltd. Following this, Sanyo Electric Air Conditioning were purchased by Panasonic in 2011 who injected new life into the brand to increase its competitive strength.
