Back in 2018, Air Options were appointed to install a HVAC system within a newly built garden centre in London. The system was required to provide the reliable heating, ventilation, and air conditioning of a large retail space and its associated offices and storage areas.
Initially we tendered for the works based upon client brief and consultation drawings, however, after meeting with the client, we suggested a redesign of their initially proposed system in order to provide a substantial cost saving.
Within the system redesign, our designers opted to utilise multiple “exposed” high-capacity ducted type units as opposed to the 4-way cassettes specified within the client’s original design. This reduced the amount of plant required, and in turn, saved the client a considerable amount of money. To ensure reliability and serviceability, our designers selected units from Panasonics commercial PACi range, as this was the best fit for the application.
At the installation stage, we were able to install all necessary plant and ductwork ahead of the garden centre’s opening which meant there were no issues in relation to site access. The only special consideration in relation to the installation work was safe working at height and owing to our experience, was easily overcome.
In summary, the project consisted of a detailed review of the clients initial design and requirements, a system redesign which provided the client a substantial cost saving, and a safe and professional installation of reliable kit that that is fit for purpose and will remain so for years to come.
