Office Air Conditioning Replacement in London

Originally installed by us in 2003 and serviced annually ever since, our client’s Toshiba R407c MAR-F system had been in reliable operation for over 15 years. However, with changes to the building’s layout in mind, and replacement parts becoming increasingly difficult to source, the client advised that they felt the time was right to look at replacing their ageing system.

During early discussions, the client advised that where possible, they would like to re-use as much of the existing infrastructure as possible in order to reduce costs and limit disruption to the businesses that occupied the building. They also advised that they were hoping that a more modern system would help to reduce the building’s energy usage whilst continuing to heat and cool the building as reliably as the system it was going to replace.

Following a detailed survey, and with a clear project brief in mind, our designers set to work in creating the revised designs. With respect to plant, our designers opted to use a Mitsubishi Electric Replace-Multi HVRF system that would not only enable us to re-use as much of the existing pipework and cabling as possible but would also reduce energy usage through heat recovery and had a strong reputation for reliability.

To further reduce disruptions to the businesses occupying the building, the decision was made to contact the manufacturer requesting that they deliver the ordered system in a dismantled state to be reassembled on site. This eliminated the need to use a crane to lift the plant onto the roof of the building and any need to close the road outside of the building.

Prior to commencing with the reinstallation, our engineers began by decommissioning and disassembling the client’s original system. Following this, the new system was discretely transported through the building reassembled on the roof. Once this was complete, the system was incrementally integrated with the buildings existing infrastructure with limited need for additional pipework or cabling, then commissioned once all aspects of the works had been completed.

All stages of the works were given careful consideration and project managed to minimise the impact to businesses occupying the building. This allowed them to continue with their daily activities. Our client was extremely happy with the results and continues to retain our services for future refurbishments.

In summary, the project consisted of a discussion stage to clearly identify the client’s brief, a design stage to clearly outline the best solution, a decommissioning stage to remove the existing plant, and an installation stage that worked around the businesses occupying the building.
